POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, has criticized foreign-based YouTubers for spreading false statements and lies about Pakistan, highlighting that UK courts have issued verdicts against them.
Speaking to the media, Talal Chaudhry stated that these individuals attempt to bring fugitives wanted in Pakistan back into the country while making baseless claims. “It is not us, but the British justice system that has declared these people liars and punished them,” he said, emphasizing that their actions also harm the reputation of the UK.
Chaudhry further added that Pakistan retains the right to take legal action against anyone spreading misinformation, underlining that the matter involves all relevant Pakistani authorities. When asked whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with British authorities, he responded that “every department of Pakistan is fulfilling its responsibility” and that this is a state matter, not an individual one.
He also questioned why these YouTubers are now deleting old videos and attempting to isolate themselves, calling their actions deceitful and misleading.
The minister’s remarks come amid growing concerns over misinformation campaigns targeting Pakistan from abroad, with authorities warning of potential legal consequences for individuals spreading false narratives.
