‘Terrorists Must Be Called Terrorists,’ Rana Sanaullah Tells Senate

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Monday said that terrorists must be labelled as such without any ambiguity, asserting that there was no public anger or rights-related issue in Balochistan.

Speaking during a session of the Senate, Rana Sanaullah said that criminal activities could be carried out anywhere by small groups, even in areas considered secure. Referring to incidents in Balochistan, he said armed groups had stopped buses, forced passengers to disembark, and martyred people belonging to other provinces in front of their families before fleeing.

He also referred to the attack on the Jafar Express, stating that innocent people were killed in the incident. Questioning the narrative of grievance, Rana Sanaullah asked what kind of resentment justified the martyrdom of innocent citizens.

The adviser further claimed that the bodies of terrorists involved in the Jafar Express incident were brought to Quetta Civil Hospital, and questioned who later took them into custody.

Rana Sanaullah reiterated that terrorists should be called terrorists “without any ifs or buts,” stressing that there was no rights issue or public anger in Balochistan.

He alleged that the militants were acting on the instructions of Pakistan’s enemies and said the state should take action against them without any confusion or hesitation. Drawing a comparison with past operations, he said that just as the enemy was humiliated during the “battle for justice,” terrorists would also meet the same fate.
