Pakistan’s security forces successfully neutralized six terrorists while two soldiers embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR stated that the operation, conducted between January 29 and 30, was based on intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Security personnel effectively engaged the militants, eliminating six insurgents in the process.
However, the intense exchange of fire resulted in the martyrdom of Major Hamza Israr (29) from Rawalpindi district and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem (26) from Naseerabad district, who displayed exemplary courage in the line of duty.
Following the operation, sanitization efforts are underway to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining terrorist elements in the area.
In its statement, the ISPR reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, emphasizing that the sacrifices of its brave soldiers further strengthen the nation’s resolve.
Pakistan has been grappling with a surge in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the breakdown of a fragile ceasefire between the government and the TTP.
The year 2024 witnessed an alarming rise in violence, with 685 security personnel losing their lives in a total of 444 terror attacks. It was the deadliest year for Pakistan’s security forces in a decade, with 1,612 combined fatalities of civilians and military personnel, a staggering 73% increase compared to 2023.
As security forces continue their fight against terrorism, the sacrifices of Pakistan’s soldiers remain a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity.
