Nationwide Shutter-Down Strike Held in Solidarity with Palestine

Across Pakistan, businesses have come to a standstill as a nationwide shutter-down strike is held in solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza. The strike is being led by Jamaat-e-Islami and supported by traders' organizations, who have called on citizens to express their solidarity with Palestine.

In Rawalpindi, key markets including Raja Bazaar, Murree Road, Saddar, and Commercial Market are all shut, with very few vehicles on the roads. The Druggist and Chemist Association also joined the strike, leading to the closure of medical stores in major markets.

Pakpattan and surrounding areas are experiencing a complete shutdown, with all small and large business centers closed. The same is true for Malaka Kohsar in Murree, where a complete shutter-down strike is in place. Business centers in key locations like Mall Road, Cantt Market, Bhurban Market, Aliut, and Phagwari are all closed, and transport is scarce.

Peshawar is also participating in the strike, with shops closed in Qissa Khawani Bazaar, Chowk Yadgar, Ashraf Road, and other major bazaars, including Khyber Bazaar. Small and large markets across the city's highways are also shut down.

Quetta joins the national protest, with all major markets and business centers in the city closed. Similarly, regions in Balochistan including Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Pishin are observing the shutter-down strike.

In Karachi, business centers across the city, from small shops to large markets, have closed in solidarity with the Palestinians. Traffic has also been impacted, with fewer vehicles on the roads than usual.

A sit-in organized by a political party in support of Palestine is blocking Korangi Crossing Road. Protesters have burned tires and shut down the road, leading to traffic diversions. Traffic police have directed vehicles to reroute from Godam Chowrangi and Nasir Jump to Chamra Chowrangi.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has spoken out, condemning the genocide of Palestinians. He emphasized that the Pakistani nation stands firmly with Palestine and calls for global condemnation of Israel and the United States.

The strike is a powerful demonstration of the widespread public outcry over the ongoing crisis in Gaza and reflects Pakistan's strong position in supporting Palestine in the face of international conflict.
