Babar Azam Slips Out of ICC Top 10 Test Batters After Five Years of Dominance

Former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam has slipped out of the top 10 of the ICC Test batters ranking for the first time in nearly five years. The talented batter, who has been enduring a lean patch in Test cricket, now finds himself ranked 12th.
Babar initially broke into the top 10 in December 2019, following an impressive unbeaten 102 in a Test match against Sri Lanka. Over the years, he solidified his spot as one of the best Test batters globally, at one point reaching the second position in 2022 during England’s tour of Pakistan.
However, his recent form in the format has been uncharacteristically inconsistent. Babar’s last significant contribution in a Test match came in December 2022 when he scored 161 against New Zealand. Since then, the star batter has struggled, failing to reach 50 runs in any of his last 16 innings. His highest score during this period was 41 in the Boxing Day Test against Australia last year.
This dip in form has led to Babar's gradual fall down the rankings, as he dropped out of the top 10 after a string of low scores, marking a significant shift for Pakistan’s cricketing sensation.
