Bomb Targeting Kech DC’s Convoy Injures Eight in Turbat

Turbat | October 27, 2025 — At least eight people, including seven Levies Force personnel, were injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast targeting the convoy of Kech Deputy Commissioner (DC) Major (retd) Bashir Barech in Turbat, Balochistan, police said on Monday. According to Kech SSP Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin, the bomb was planted on a motorcycle and detonated remotely as the DC’s convoy passed Press Club Road. While the DC remained unharmed due to his bulletproof vehicle, the blast partially damaged his car and caused collateral damage to four nearby vehicles and adjacent buildings. “Five Levies personnel and a passerby were initially reported injured, but the number later rose to eight, including seven Levies personnel,” the SSP confirmed. Police and Frontier Corps teams reached the site for further investigation. The incident reflects a worrying rise in terrorist attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, often targeting security personnel and law enforcement agencies. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently expressed concern over the resurgence of terrorism in Balochistan, urging authorities to address the underlying causes of unrest. Balochistan has witnessed multiple terrorist incidents in recent weeks: • October 9: Bomb on railway track near Dera Murad Jamali killed one employee, halting train services. • September 30: Blast near FC headquarters in Quetta killed 10 and injured 32. • Mid-September: Bomb on Jaffar Express in Mastung injured 12, including women and children. • September 18: Explosion near Chaman taxi stand killed five. • September 2: Blast at BNP-M rally in Quetta killed five and injured 29. The recurring attacks underscore the ongoing security challenges in the province and the continued threat posed by terrorist networks.
