Digital Census 2023 Reveals Diversity and Trends in Sindh's Population

The Department of Statistics has released the findings of the digital census 2023, shedding light on various aspects of Sindh's demographics:

·       Language Distribution: Sindhi speakers constitute 60%, Urdu speakers 22%, Balochi speakers 2%, with other languages making up 15% of the population.

·       Gender Distribution: Men account for 52%, and women 47% of the total population.

·       Household Energy Use: A significant percentage (44% to 80%) still relies on wood for cooking, while 4% to 7% use animal dung. However, 49% use gas, and 12% use solar energy.

·       Urban Population: Karachi leads with a population of 1 crore 88 lakh 60 thousand, followed by Hyderabad (19 lakh 20 thousand), Sukkur (5 lakh 60 thousand), and Larkana (5 lakh 50 thousand).

This comprehensive census provides a detailed snapshot of Sindh's socio-economic landscape, highlighting both challenges and opportunities for development.
