Historic Move: Passenger Jet Transported by Road from Karachi to Hyderabad

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, a passenger aircraft was transported by road from Karachi to Hyderabad. The retired Boeing 737, spanning 110 feet and weighing 40 tons, made the unusual overland journey on Thursday, covering 154 kilometers in about two and a half hours.

To facilitate the journey, the wings and tail were disassembled, with the fuselage transported on a specially designed truck and trailer. The plane will be reassembled at the Civil Aviation Training Institute in Hyderabad, where it will serve as a training model for airport firefighters.

The convoy’s journey along the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway caused some congestion, drawing considerable public attention. The sight reminded many Pakistanis of a similar overland transport of Boeing 777s across Saudi Arabia last month.
