Khawaja Asif Declares Diplomatic Victory over India at SCO: 'India's Sindoor Shattered'

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday claimed a diplomatic triumph over India at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defense Ministers' meeting, saying that “India’s vermilion (sindoor) has been shattered” in what he described as “Operation Sindoor.”

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament House, Asif revealed that a joint declaration could not be issued at the SCO meeting due to India’s intransigence, adding that no member country supported India’s stance.

“After my speech, the Indian delegation requested time to respond. Their request was rejected. This is a self-defeat for India,” Asif remarked.

🇵🇰 Operation Sindoor & Diplomatic Setback for India

The minister used the term “Operation Sindoor” metaphorically to represent India’s failed attempt to dominate the SCO narrative, claiming Pakistan had fulfilled its diplomatic objectives and exposed India’s isolation on key regional issues.

He emphasized that India’s refusal to compromise led to the collapse of consensus on a joint SCO declaration, a major diplomatic embarrassment for New Delhi.

🕊️ Iran & Pak-US Relations

Commenting on the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions, Asif said Pakistan would withhold a public position until facts were fully established.

“We’ll issue a statement once the complete picture emerges,” he said.

On Pakistan-US relations, the minister stated that ties remained “very good”, denying any strain between Islamabad and Washington.

🇮🇳 Relations With India

Khawaja Asif reiterated that relations with India would not normalize until core issues — especially Kashmir — are resolved according to UN resolutions.

“We have serious issues with India. Relations will remain strained until those issues are addressed in line with international law and justice,” he stressed.

Asif’s remarks come amid heightened diplomatic activity following recent regional conflicts and Pakistan’s active stance in global forums, where it has sought to reaffirm its strategic priorities and reject Indian narratives.
