POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, holding him responsible for the Swat tragedy and demanding his immediate resignation.
Calling the incident the “worst failure of governance”, the governor said the provincial government has failed to protect its people and alleged that criminal negligence led to the disaster. He urged that a criminal case be registered against the chief minister.
“Not a single rupee has been given to local bodies in KP. Even the police and FC are asking where the funds went,” Kundi said during a press conference in Haripur.
He further alleged that Rs 50 billion worth of financial mismanagement has surfaced in the province, questioning the lack of accountability over funds received under the NFC Award. Kundi claimed that luxury bungalows were purchased in Dera Ismail Khan for "white-collar" individuals while ordinary citizens lacked access to basic services.
Allegations of Corruption and Prioritizing Politics Over People
Governor Kundi also criticized CM Gandapur for prioritizing political confrontations over public welfare:
“All resources are being used to attack the federation, while the people in KP are desperate for basic facilities.”
Referring to Section 804, Kundi accused the provincial government of promoting individuals "opposed to the principles of the state of Medina," saying ministries are being handed to corrupt elements.
The Swat incident has heightened tensions between the federal and provincial leadership, with growing calls for accountability. While CM Gandapur has yet to respond officially, the mounting pressure from the governor is expected to deepen the political divide in the province.
