Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has halted the announcement of the national team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The decision, which was expected to be made today, has been postponed indefinitely due to concerns raised by Naqvi over the selection process.

 

The 15-member squad, set to be led by Babar Azam, was scheduled to be revealed today for the T20 World Cup, slated to commence next month in America and the West Indies. However, reports indicate that Chairman Naqvi intervened and stopped the announcement.

 

Sources within the PCB reveal that Naqvi expressed his dissatisfaction with the selection process, particularly highlighting the lack of regular meetings. While Naqvi did not object to the players selected, he emphasized the importance of transparent and systematic decision-making procedures.

 

It has been reported that Naqvi, in a letter to the selection committee, sought clarification regarding the absence of documented minutes from the selection meetings. His action came as a response to the discovery that there were no records of any meetings held to finalize the team selection process.

 

Until the concerns raised by Chairman Naqvi are addressed and the selection process is thoroughly reviewed, the announcement of Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad will remain on hold, according to sources familiar with the matter.
