Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lead a high-level Pakistani delegation to the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, scheduled to take place from January 20 to 22, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Tuesday.

According to an FO statement, the prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other senior officials.

The statement said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit includes multiple substantive engagements at the global forum. He will participate in the WEF’s Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL) session titled “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World.”

In addition, the prime minister will host and chair a Pakistan-specific High-Level Business Roundtable, bringing together prominent international corporate leaders to discuss investment prospects and economic cooperation.

“On the sidelines, the prime minister is expected to interact with several world leaders, including business executives,” the FO statement said.

It added that during these engagements, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will articulate Pakistan’s perspective on global and regional peace and development, while also highlighting the government’s vision, reforms and achievements in the areas of economy, trade and investment opportunities.

The FO noted that the WEF Annual Meeting brings together political leaders, top business executives, heads of international organisations and civil society representatives from across the world. The forum serves as a platform to deliberate on pressing geopolitical, economic, social and environmental challenges facing the global community.
