PTI Leader Barrister Ali Zafar Denounces Government's Move to Ban PTI, Asserts Legal Challenge

PTI leader Barrister Ali Zafar has strongly criticized the federal government's intention to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserting that such a move lacks legal basis. In an interview with Geo News, Barrister Zafar emphasized that under current laws, there is no provision for the government to unilaterally ban a political party without due process through the courts.

He highlighted that only in cases where a political party collaborates with an enemy country can there be grounds for prohibition, and even then, approval must be sought from the Supreme Court. Barrister Zafar pointed out that historically, decisions to ban political parties in Pakistan have been associated with authoritarian regimes rather than democratic processes.

Regarding discussions about invoking Article 6, Barrister Ali Zafar dismissed its applicability, stating that it does not pertain to cases involving members of Parliament. He expressed confidence that legal challenges would prevent any unconstitutional actions against PTI.

Referring to recent legal setbacks faced by the government, Barrister Zafar suggested that ongoing cases, including those related to reserved seats and allegations against PTI leaders, were politically motivated attempts to undermine the party.
