Shalimar Express Derails Near Shahdara; No Casualties Reported

The Shalimar Express traveling from Lahore to Karachi derailed near Shahdara Railway Station early this morning. Three bogies went off the track, temporarily suspending train operations.

Upon receiving the report of the accident, railway officials and staff immediately reached the scene to start relief work.

Passengers Safe

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all passengers aboard the derailed bogies are safe. The railway spokesperson confirmed that the train had departed Lahore at 7:30 AM.

Relief Measures

A relief train from Lahore was dispatched to clear the track. Passengers were taken to Shahdara Railway Station and will be transported to Lahore via a relief train before continuing their journey to Karachi on another Shalimar Express train.

The Karakoram Express from Karachi to Lahore was temporarily halted at Sheikhupura Railway Station but will reroute via Sangla Hill to Wazirabad before reaching Lahore.

Preliminary Investigation Report

A preliminary investigation has held the train driver responsible for the derailment due to overspeeding. Footage acquired by Aaj News shows that the driver failed to apply brakes at the critical moment.

CEO Railways Amir Ali Baloch has ordered a thorough investigation into the accident. Further reports are awaited.
