Pakistan's unmarried population has reached an unprecedented 42.5 million, marking a significant 52% increase over the past six years. The new figures reveal a substantial shift in marital demographics since the 2017 census, which recorded 37.3 million unmarried individuals.

 

The Department of Statistics' report outlines a detailed breakdown by region:

 

Punjab: 23.6 million

Sindh: 9.586 million

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 6.672 million

Balochistan: 2.181 million

Islamabad: 486,000

In contrast, the number of married people in Pakistan now stands at 9.45 million, an increase of 1.42 million over the same period. Notably, the census also shows a decline in the number of divorced and widowed women. The current number of divorced women is 499,000, down from 515,000 in 2017.

 

The report, compiled based on data from individuals aged 15 years and older, provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving marital landscape in the country.
